This day-use park, with a 90-acre lake for boating and fishing, also features picnic areas, rental picnic pavilions, recycled tire playground, and a disc golf course. The Schaeffer Farm Trail Area offers 12 miles of marked trails for hiking and mountain biking. For the more adventuresome hiker, the 16.5-mile Seneca Creek Greenway Trail follows the entire course of the river. Historical sites include a mill and a one-room schoolhouse.

CONTINUE THROUGH SIX STOP LIGHTS (APPROX. 2 MILES). SENECA CREEK STATE PARK IS ON THE LEFT. FROM FREDERICK, PENNSYLVANIA AND POINTS NORTH: I-270 SOUTH TOWARDS WASHINGTON, DC TAKE EXIT # 11, (MD ROUTE # 124 WEST). AT THE LIGHT BEAR RIGHT, GO TWO MORE LIGHTS, TURN RIGHT ON TO CLOPPER ROAD. THE PARK IS APPROXIMATELY 1.5 MILES ON THE LEFT.

importantInformation ALCOHOL POLICY: The consumption or possession of an open container of an alcoholic beverage will be prohibited in all state park areas with the exception of interior areas of full-service cabins and motorhomes. Permits may be issued upon request by the Park Manager for special events operating under a use agreement. Alcohol permits will only be issued through a reservation for a designated shelter, or other approved facility. A $35 fee will be charged for each alcohol permit and must be obtained 1-day out prior to arrival. Permits may be revoked for cause by Park Manager, their designee or a Natural Resources Police Officer. Internet shelter reservations requiring an alcohol permit will need to contact the Call Center at 1-888-432-2267, Mon-Fri, 8 am - 8 pm to make your reservation.
